Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re unable to find the answer to your question, our team will be happy to help. Please contact us

One of the few reasons a technician should ever have to come to your premises is if there is a problem with the device that connects your organisation to the Internet, i.e. the Firewall. Sometimes, a problem with the Firewall can be rectified simply by switching it on and off but if this doesn’t work, a visit will probably be required. Any other technical issues you encounter can probably be resolved by our technicians connecting to your system from their remote location.

The problem with having a single individual looking after your IT Support is that sometimes and for a variety of reasons, that person may not be available. Unfortunately, that single person may be the only one who has the credentials to access aspects of your system so it is not so easy for just anybody to come along and pick up from where they have left off. Xcede IT can work together with your existing provider to ensure that continuity of service is secured.

If your current IT service provider is providing you with the service you need and at a price you can afford, there may be no reason to change. But how do you know that your systems are as secure as they should be? How do you know that there isn’t technology out there that can greatly enhance your operational efficiency or security? Allowing an alternative IT Support provider take a look at your systems may help you confirm why you do or don’t need to consider changing.

Of course you can, but we may be limited as to how much help we can provide without an intimate knowledge of how your systems have been set-up. It is also quite possible that we are busy with our contracted customers, who would take priority over assisting you. But please call us by all means and we’ll see what we can do.

Quite possibly, but without the assistance of highly-trained technicians, how do you know that what you are buying is 1) good value or 2) what you actually need or 3) will suit your future requirements? And then there is the challenge of configuring the equipment and making sure it integrates with the rest of your system. Buying from Xcede IT does not necessarily mean that you end up spending more money but could ensure that what gets installed satisfies your requirement.

We have many years of experience dealing with extremely capable business people who have no idea about information technology. We go out of our way to simplify the language we use and are as transparent as possible as to what we can offer. Ultimately, our customers do not have to have a complete understanding of the service we provide, they can simply focus on what they do best, safe in the knowledge that we will do everything we can to keep their systems running, secure and meeting their needs at a price that they can see equates to value for money.

Your IT Support provider must be competent, reliable, trustworthy, available and represent value for money. We have plenty of customers who will be happy to provide a reference, some of our staff have been working with these customers for over 15 years.

It doesn’t have to be, so long as you move to a company with the experience and track record that Xcede IT has. We know how big a decision it is to change, we also know that the transition process presents us with an ideal opportunity to impress our clients and help reassure them that they have made the right decision.

As of October 14th 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide support (e.g. no updates, including security patches, bug fixes nor technical support) for their Windows 10 Operating system.

You will either have to upgrade your computers to Windows 11 (if possible) or replace those computers and either way, the technicians at Xcede IT are happy to help.

Be careful, you might be able to upgrade to Windows 11 but then not have the system resources to run your usual applications.

If you represent a Company that has not had any kind of risk assessment done then yes, probably. The least you can do is get the Cyber Essentials certification.

Cyber Essentials represents the UK Government’s minimum baseline standard for cyber security for organisations of all sizes in the UK. Achieving Cyber Essentials certification should give you some peace of mind.
