Servers get fried at McDonald’s

Just before the weekend, some of McDonald’s I.T. Systems failed and the impact was “supersized, affecting the diets of millions of people all over the world, not necessarily in a bad way…..

We have all become familiar with ordering by using McDonald’s app on our mobile phones, or the electronic self-ordering kiosks. Well neither of these ordering methods were functioning for several hours, meaning people had to actually order at the counter or in some cases, the restaurant was closed altogether.

Of course, the first thought on many peoples’ minds was “Where is the nearest Burger King?”, but the second thought was “Cyber Attack?”.

McDonald’s quickly ruled out a cyber attack, but did eventually admit to it not being their fault, they blamed a “third-party technology provider”.

Obviously, sometimes downtime can be caused by your I.T. Support provider. All you can hope is that your supplier is honest about what has happened and works hard to mitigate any negative impact and to restore service as soon as possible

If ever Xcede IT is responsible for your downtime, we apologise profusely and promise to learn from that particular mistake. If you are not an Xcede IT customer already and your supplier causes you to experience a system failure, you clearly need to change supplier to Xcede IT…….
