So last year, the FBI pointed out the dangers of using old WiFi routers and how these devices are vulnerable to a cyber attack.
Well it should come as no surprise that even older WiFi routers are more susceptible to attacks.

The FBI has gone so far as to list which routers are considered particulary at risk and they are all from LINKSYS. The list includes :
E1200 (2011),
E2500 (2011),
E4200 (2011),
WRT320N (2009),
M10 (2010)
As with outdated version of operating systems for computers, these devices no longer receive security updates so once a cyber criminal identifies a way to access them, they can scan the Interent looking for these routers that have reached their “end-of-life” and their remote management features are now exposed.
This will then allow a “bad actor” to upload malware that others can use to conceal their own, potentially illegal, online activity.
