Blog:

We appreciate sophistication, but not on a phishing trip!

An extremely sophisticated, AI driven “phishing” scam is making the rounds and Gmail users are being caught.

Gmail is used by nearly 2.5 billion people world-wide, so even if a tiny percentage of people fall for this scam, we could still be talking about millions of users.

If you receive an email in any of your inboxes relating to recovering a Gmail account, delete it!

“Phishing” is an attempt for you to disclose your credentials to “bad actors”.

The problem today is that you could end up in a telephone conversation with someone you think is real but is actually an AI generated voice, asking sensible questions and responding accordingly to your answers.

Staying safe from such scams is getting increasingly difficult but as a Golden Rule, avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown or suspicious emails. If you think it may be genuine, instead of clicking on a link provided, go to the website involved directly by keying in the URL in your browser.

Speak to the team at Xcede IT and they will happily discuss with you how to avoid scams like these.
