From October 14th 2025, Windows 10 is no longer supported by Microsoft. Make sure that you have a plan to upgrade or replace your affected computers.
As of October14th 2025, Microsoft no longer provides support for the Windows 10 operating system which has reached its “End Of Life” (EOL).
Some of you may remember that Microsoft did the same thing with Windows 7 in January 2020.
The latest and last version of Windows 10 is called “22H2”. This version has been available since October 2022 and any computers that run Windows 10, should be running this version. Since October 14th 2025, no updates, including security patches, bug fixes nor technical support, will be provided by Microsoft free of charge.
Some computers that are running Windows 10 can be upgraded to Windows 11 but many do not meet the system requirements necessary for Windows 11.
The best way to check if your Windows 10 computer can be upgraded to Windows 11 is to run the PC Health Check App. This can be found by right clicking the START menu and selecting the “Search” option. Enter “PC Health Check”, select the app and click the “Check now” button.
If “This PC meets Windows 11 requirements” is displayed, then the computer can be upgraded however if “This PC doesn’t meet Windows 11 requirements” is displayed then unfortunately the computer cannot be upgraded. Be careful, even though you may be able to upgrade your computer to Windows 11, it could be that you are not left with sufficient resources to run the applications that you usually use. The only way to find this out would be to upgrade and then assess the result.
You are now faced with the option of either upgrading your Windows 10 computers yourself, contracting an IT Support company like Xcede IT to do it for you or swapping out for new computers. Continuing to use Windows 10 computers after October 14th 2025 could be disastrous as it is only a matter of time before hackers work out how to compromise computers that are no longer receiving security updates.
Whatever you decide to do, you need to make that decision as soon as possible. If you do need to replace computers and you delay, you may be impacted by increased pricing and availability of replacement computers.
Microsoft has published a lot of information about what is going to happen, some can be found here.
Xcede IT is there to help whether you are an existing customer or not, even if is just to assist with a health check of your current situation.
